Merel Koning has a keen interest in the intersection between art and technology. In the summer of 2017 she collaborated with artist Jochem van Schip on the CODE/COAT project about online and offline notions of privacy and necessity of whistle-blowers in an open democracy. CODE/COAT constitutes of a guide for whistle-blowers in the Netherlands and a privacy perserving jacket.

The project won the Young Talent Award – Manifestations Dutch Design Week, the Thingscon Talent Award – Thingscon Internet of Things Amsterdam and was nominated for the Youngblood/Honourable mention at Gogbot.
